Music

Music plays an integral role in the worship experience at St. John’s. In fact, there are many parishioners who would admit that the music at St. John’s is one of the main attractions of the Sunday services for them. With such a diverse family of parishioners comes a diverse music program with talented professional and amateur musicians from varying walks of life. Covering centuries of composers from Bach to Buddy Greene, St. John’s music library is rich with variety so worshippers can expect to enjoy the traditional choral works from the great composers of past centuries, alongside more contemporary works of today. This is a diversity sure to satisfy any palette.

St. John’s Choir has a mix of volunteers and professional vocalists. The children and handbell choirs are also now coming back to life again so there is something for everyone, even those who love music but never saw themselves as part of a music program.

With any good music program comes the opportunity to perform great works and to hear great works performed. St. John’s continues this tradition with presentations of favorites like Handel’s Messiah and Fauré’s Requiem not to mention organ solo performances on the magnificent 6800 pipe organ hailed as one of the finest in New England.

To sum it up St. John’s music program offers "..a refuge of high musical standards where spiritual music is created in a noncompetitive setting with real, fun and caring people, led by a director who encourages the same. " Anna Marie D'Ambrosio (soprano)
