Serving the Stamford community since 1742

St. John’s Church has a long history of service our community – both in the distribution of our resources and in the ministries of our congregation. It was St. John’s Church and its members that gave Stamford its first public hospital and helped found the town’s first public library.

Today, the tradition continues. Over the past 30 years, St. John’s Church has given over $6 million to charitable causes through the St. John’s Community Foundation. This is in addition to the food and other necessities collected and delivered throughout the year by volunteers. Most of the parish participates in collecting and delivering Thanksgiving baskets to needy families throughout Stamford.

At Christmas, we support the community through the Person-to-Person charities including significant food distribution and financial support for essential services for those in need. Not surprisingly, many St. John’s parishioners devote at least two hours a week to work with a non-profit organization.
